This composition was commissioned by artists Bojana Coklyat and Shannon Finnegan for their project Alt Text as Poetry. I created the piece using the music software Ableton Live.

“​​Companion”

I love this song. The first time I listened to it, I felt very synapse-y, like I’d just been plugged in and like those opening beats were responding to my brain patterns. I was so surprised when the clapping came in. Suddenly this electric composition felt so human to me. So collective and naturalistic. 

I’ve been experimenting with my Wacom tablet and created a drawing of a lush riverside, then pointillized it before adding in the hands as a collage element. To me, it’s the digital joyfully making a connection with the analog – but maybe that analog risks losing itself along the way?
